With St. Patricks Day around the corner, I thought I’d share with you an awesome Sauerkraut my husband discovered. It’s very delicious and yes, a bit more expensive, but ever so worth it.
Saverne Raw Natural Kraut Bavarian Style — It’s fresh, crispy, and has no preservatives, and it’s small-batch handcrafted. Its only ingredients are Cabbage, Water, Cane Sugar, Sea Salt, and Caraway Seeds. Yes!! It has Caraway Seeds in it! It’s the only way it should be! You know, I can’t think of many stinky food items I like wafting through my home as much as I like this one. They should stand tall and be proud of such a fine product.
All I have to do is open the bag, plop it in the slow cooker, add my pork, season it (the pork, that is), and turn the slow cooker on. Boom. Dinner in 8 hours. It’s even better on a Reuben sandwich grilled with buttery Rye bread, piles of corned beef, gooey swiss cheese, mounds of this amazing sauerkraut, and gobs of Thousand Island Dressing… oh… my… glory!!! Don’t you just want to run out and get a bag now??? I don’t, because I have two bags in my slow cooker as I type. Can’t wait for dinner!! Hee–Hee!
